Social and Community Participation

Support to build confidence and community connection

Social and Community Participation That Builds Connection

Social and community participation supports participants to engage in activities, relationships, and experiences that matter to them. Our role is to help reduce barriers, build confidence, and support meaningful involvement in community life.

We work alongside participants to identify interests, goals, and opportunities for connection. Support is tailored to individual preferences and can include social, recreational, educational, or community-based activities.

Our approach is participant-led, flexible, and focused on building skills and confidence over time. Whether support is needed to get started, to try something new, or to maintain existing connections, we provide respectful and reliable assistance.

Social and community participation support can be provided regularly or as needed and is designed to align with NDIS plans, individual goals, and real-life circumstances.

If you, your family, or your support coordinator are looking for supportive and practical ways to build community participation — we are here to help.

At JNJ Community Support Services, social and community participation support is delivered with flexibility, respect, and a genuine focus on building confidence and meaningful connection.

What Social and Community Participation Can Include

Social and community participation focuses on helping participants engage with their community in ways that are meaningful and enjoyable. Support is flexible and tailored to individual interests, abilities, and goals.

Support to attend social activities, group programs, or informal gatherings that promote connection and enjoyment. This may include community groups, hobby clubs, or social events chosen by the participant.

Assistance to access recreational activities such as sports, arts, fitness, or creative pursuits. Support may include planning, transport, and participation alongside the participant.

Support to develop communication skills, social confidence, and independence in community settings. Assistance is provided at the participant’s pace and adjusted as confidence grows.

Help to explore and engage with local community resources, events, and services. This may include attending classes, workshops, volunteering, or other community-based opportunities.

How Our Social and Community Participation Support Is Delivered

Our social and community participation support is delivered with a focus on choice, respect, and meaningful outcomes. We work collaboratively with participants and their support networks to ensure support feels natural and empowering.

All activities are guided by the participant’s interests and goals. We support choice and self-direction, ensuring participation feels meaningful rather than forced.

Support can be provided one-to-one or alongside others, on a regular basis or as needed. Scheduling and support levels are adjusted to suit individual preferences and routines.

We focus on building skills and confidence so participants can take greater independence in community settings where possible. Support is gradually adapted as needs change.

All social and community participation supports are delivered in line with NDIS plans and goals. We work collaboratively with families, coordinators, and other providers to ensure consistent and effective support.
